**Prep Time:** 15 minutes
**Cook Time:** 20 minutes
**Servings:** 4
**Ingredients:**
– 3 tablespoons butter
– 1/2 pound mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
– 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 pound beef tenderloin, sliced into bite-size strips
– 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, divided
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 1/3 cup good quality red wine
– 1 14-ounce can of beef broth
– 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
**Instructions:**
1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Sauté the mushrooms until they achieve a light golden brown color. Remove the mushrooms from the pan and set aside.
2. Add the onions to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3-5 minutes. Reduce the heat to low, add garlic, and return the mushrooms to the pan; sauté for an additional 30-60 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant. Remove the mixture from the skillet and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, combine the slices of steak, 2 tablespoons of flour, salt, and pepper. Stir to coat the steak slices evenly.
4. Heat the olive oil in the skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until browned; then, remove from the skillet and set aside.
5. Reduce the heat to low and deglaze the skillet with red wine, scraping up the brown bits from the bottom. Pour 1/2 cup of beef broth into a bowl and set aside. Add the remaining beef broth and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
6. In a small bowl, whisk together the reserved 1/2 cup of beef broth and 1/4 cup flour. Whisk this flour mixture into the skillet with the wine and beef broth mixture. Cook for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
7. Add the steak and mushroom mixture back to the skillet and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
8. Serve the succulent steak bites over egg noodles or creamy mashed potatoes. Enjoy!
